G'Day Developers!
Do you avoid using one form for data entry and find navigation?
Combining data entry and find navigation is a mistake. I think 2 forms are
better than one. I prefer a list box
on one form with "Add", "Edit" and
"Delete" buttons to a popup form.
Rather than a listbox and the data
entry fields on one form.

Sydney .NET User Group - The best
place to learn .NET for free in
Sydney
|
|
This month
Michael Mileos is hosting as Adam is riding his bike all the way from Sydney to CodeCampOz in Wagga Wagga! Mike has 4 outstanding
sessions lined up for you from George, Corneliu and Edward.
In addition
Adel Helal and
Mark Liu will be speaking about how
to secure your web services using WFC
over WSE3 and SSL.
Windows Communication Foundation (WFC)
extends .NET Framework to enable
building secure, reliable and
interoperable Web Services. WCF
demonstrated interoperability with using
the Web Services Security (WSS)
including Username Token over SSL,
Username Token for X509 and X509 Mutual
Certificate profiles.
WSE has been outdated and replaced by
WCF and has provided its own set of
attributes that can be plugged into any
Web Service application.
More on Do you secure your web services
using WCF over WSE3 and SSL?...
So come and join the fun at this
month's .NET User Group and as usual all
attendees will receive a healthy
complementary assortment of sub
sandwiches and soft drinks.

Rules to Better Interfaces
What is software? From a technical
perspective, a piece of software
comprises forms for managing,
collection and transmitting data.
But that is not what a user thinks.
From the user's perspective software
is a computer tool for performing
tasks quickly, efficiently,
accurately and with a minimum amount
of cognitive demand. Aim for the
second one, there's a big
difference.The whole point of a
good GUI (Graphical User Interface)
is being able to understand what is
going on without reading every
single detail. That is why we prefer
big red crosses to say "Don't do
that you oaf!" instead of a line of
text that says "I think you may want
to reconsider your options."
